Because I tend to jump from one thing to another without always (often) finishing a project or reaching the endpoint of a goal, I’ve decided that 2021 is the year I will FOCUS. I have four main areas with monthly goals for each and this post is about my January goals and the progress I make.
In addition, I am doing a 28 day challenge each month. This is for fun and a way to improve skills or try a new technique or project. For January, I’m working to improve my calligraphy skills.
Goals
- Fonts: upload one new font to marketplaces
- Procreate Brushes: finalize one set
- Writing: 1000 words a day on cozy mystery to finish rough draft and find Beta readers
- Skillshare: prep new class and start shooting video
- 28 Days of: Calligraphy
Outcome
- Fonts: upload one new font to marketplaces
- DONE! See Progress Updates below for details.
- Procreate Brushes: finalize one set
- DIDN’T EVEN TOUCH I did use one of my sets quite a bit in doing my 28 days of calligraphy. So I at least have some samples now of how I use the brushes!
- Writing: 1000 words a day on cozy mystery to finish rough draft and find Beta readers
- PARTIAL I only wrote more than 1000 words on maybe 2 days. Many days I wrote nothing. But I did get over a stumbling point in the story, so maybe now it will go a bit faster…? Still working on the rough draft and haven’t begun to look for Beta readers yet.
- Skillshare: prep new class and start shooting video
- DONE! I prepped 2 classes since another idea popped into my head. I started shooting video for that one. I did work on some sample images for the first class though.
- 28 Days of: Calligraphy
- PARTIAL I did 23 days! In the last week or so I really began to develop a style. I post all my 28 Days challenges on Instagram – follow along there!
Below are the progress updates I posted during the month.

Uploaded my new font, Heartsy, to various marketplaces. You can get it here. It’s also available on FontBundles and CreativeFabrica.
This whimsical display font features upper and lower case letters and numbers. A variety of punctuation and symbols are included – several with alternate glyphs.
If you’re a crafter, this font cuts beautifully on die cutting machines like Cricut and Silhouette. I made a “Happy Anniversary” banner to hang in my hubby’s home office as a surprise.
