Focus on February 2021 Goals

The year is off to a pretty good start. Although I didn’t complete all my January goals, I did finish two of them and made a good dent in some of the others.

I added the SVG’s goal because this is one of the main aspects of my day. I have several years of original designs I used for Print on Demand items (t-shirts, mugs, etc. that I sold on Etsy and Amazon). Now I’m focusing on converting many of those designs to SVG’s and/or reworking some of the designs. Of course, there is always the possibility of creating new designs too!

Here are my February goals:

Goals

  • Fonts: upload at least one new font to marketplaces
  • Procreate Brushes: upload at least one set to marketplaces
  • Writing: revised – finish rough draft and find Beta readers
  • Skillshare: edit and upload one class
  • SVG’s: upload at least 10 designs to Etsy, DesignBundles, and CreativeFabrica.
  • 28 Days of: embroidery. I follow some really cool makers on Instagram and now I’m itching to give it a try. Goal is to finish at least one piece.

Outcome

  • Fonts: upload at least one new font to marketplaces
    • PARTIAL: I played with a few ideas, but nothing really sparked.
  • Procreate Brushes: upload at least one set to marketplaces
    • PARTIAL: I worked really hard on a set and it will likely be released in March!
  • Writing: revised – finish rough draft and find Beta readers
    • PARTIAL: I got quite a bit written and am nearing the end of the story.
  • Skillshare: edit and upload one class
    • PARTIAL: I began filming and editing, but still have some more filming (and editing) to do.
  • SVG’s: upload at least 10 designs to Etsy, DesignBundles, and CreativeFabrica.
    • PARTIAL: This is a new goal (sorta – more like newly stated). I did upload 6 new designs to each marketplace.
  • 28 Days of:embroidery. I follow some really cool makers on Instagram and now I’m itching to give it a try. Goal is to finish at least one piece.
    • DONE! At least I accomplished one goal this month LOL! I’ve fallen in love with embroidery, so much so that I’m planning on translating some of my artwork and graphics into embroidery.

Below are the progress updates I posted during the month:

Spiral Sampler emboidery project

First embroidery project done! This pattern was so fun to stitch. You can check out all the details about my 28 days of embroidery journey here.

Adobe Illustrator has a new feature that makes creating mandalas super easy (well, more at “easier”). I spent last weekend playing around and created this beautiful heart mandala for Valentine’s Day (or whenever!). Uploaded pattern to marketplaces (including here and Etsy) and filmed a YouTube video on how to put it together. If you have a Cricut or Silhouette (or even a Glowforge?!), you can make this too.

Writing: Making some headway on my cozy mystery! A rough draft might be done by the end of the month.

Procreate Brushes: I’m reworking a set I started last year to make them more consistent. This set may be ready to launch at the end of this month or the beginning of next.

Skillshare: I just need to get this one done. I’ve not even started filming, but the course is all outlined. I think I get hung up on the setup (filming my iPad, lighting). It will never be perfect – but it can at least be done.

Fonts: I’ve played around with some ideas, but nothing has stuck – yet. I think I’ll be revising this goal for the upcoming months. I did sneak in a font at the end of last year which I had planned as the first font of 2021. I think that threw off my metric of how quickly I could produce a display font.

SVG’s: behind on this goal as well, but hey – at least I’m making great headway on the cozy mystery.
