Catching Up: My Creative Adventures Over the Last Three Months

Life has been busy, but I’m thrilled to catch up with you and share the simple & seasonal quilting projects I’ve been working on over the past three months. From easy projects to intricate creations, this period has been full of quilting, sewing, and designing. Let’s dive into the highlights!

Ribbon Weave Quilt

Back in August, I wrapped up my Woven Ribbons quilt, a vibrant and dynamic design that quickly became one of my favorites. I even released a video tutorial for it on my YouTube channel. I also have a blog post about it. Pattern is available from my Etsy shop: StacyCreatesStuff.

Keep it Simple September

After a summer of tackling complex projects, I decided to declare September “Keep It Simple September.” I focused on straightforward designs that still packed a visual punch.

One of the highlights was the Interwoven Quilt, which can be made with just 18 fat quarters or quarter yards of fabric. It’s an easy and satisfying pattern, and you can grab it for free by joining my mailing list.

Kits for this quilt are available from Vintage Pink & Green, my local quilt shop.

Of course there is a video tutorial on my YouTube channel, and also a blog post here on the website.

Another project from this month was the Pumpkin Patch Quilt, perfect for fall decor. Whether for Halloween or Thanksgiving, this versatile quilt was a joy to make.

The kit comes with enough fabric to make four blocks, which can be arranged as a table runner, a square-ish wallhanging, or even placemats.

You can download the free pattern for a single pumpkin block (the kit includes additional instructions for four different arrangements of the four blocks).

Of course, there is also a video tutorial and a blog post.

September closed out with the Frank Lloyd Wright Bright Windows Quilt, inspired by the stunning March Balloons fabric collection from Cloud9. This design featured large blocks and bold fabric chunks, celebrating the beauty of the prints without overcomplicating things.

October Projects: Awareness and Warmth

October brought a mix of thoughtful and festive projects.

First up was the Pink Ribbons Quilt, which I designed in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This design featured twisting pink ribbons in light and dark shades, symbolizing strength and support.

It’s no secret that I love Tilda fabrics – and her patterns! I looked back at some of her older designs, and reimagined the Cozy Stripe Quilt using Jubilee fabric and some complementary prints. It’s a wonderfully adaptable pattern, quick and easy to make, and perfect for snuggling as the weather cools.

For some seasonal fun, I also made Tilda’s Stuffed Pumpkins using fabric from her new Sanctuary collection. These adorable decorations come in three sizes and are a delightful addition to any fall display.

Berry Wreath Quilt: A Showstopper

As October progressed, I tackled a more complex project: the Berry Wreath Quilt. This Tilda Fabrics pattern is entirely pieced, not appliqued, and features intricate blocks with tiny berries and leaves. The meticulous work was worth it—the finished quilt is stunning and sure to be a favorite for years to come.

I will have a tutorial on this one soon!

Holiday Prep with Ornaments and Tree Napkins

Getting into the holiday spirit, I revisited the Ornaments Quilt from my Jolly in July video series. I created two versions—one simple and one more intricate—for an upcoming holiday class.

I also made new Tree Napkins using fabric from my friend Victoria of victoria:b design. These charming napkins are perfect for festive table settings and were a lovely gift to send to her for the holidays.

Looking Ahead

It’s been a whirlwind few months, but I’m excited about what’s ahead. I have several tutorials planned, including one for the Berry Wreath Quilt, and new designs are in the works for the new year. Who knows—there might even be some non-quilting projects coming soon!

Thank you for sticking with me through this creative journey. I hope you’ve been finding time for your favorite hobbies, whether it’s quilting, knitting, embroidery, or something else entirely. Stay tuned for more updates, and happy crafting!

Which of these projects inspired you the most? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear from you!
